Milo Tiramisu-1

Decided to make Steven a Tiramisu cake for his birthday a few weeks back. Not sure if this is a good thing, Steven actually had no idea what that was. He thought it was some Jappie cake!

The recipes I got from Cabnolen and several others suggested a Kahula or Bailey is the best. But since we got kiddies in the house, I had to alter the recipe and put in Milo instead.

Finally use the giftcard my father in law gave me a few years ago to purchase a Mini Whiz (see promotional photos from Farmers below).

It’s good to whip the cream, and chop/grind the food (not beat the egg white, I learned it when baking another birthday cake for my own father. You need to beat the egg white manually to achieve the satisfactory result)—a new toy to play with! I got all the ingredients ready, and spend the Sunday afternoon after we got back from the beach to mix and assemble the cake.

Applied the first layer of cheese mix. I used the Philly cream cheese instead of Mascarpone for budget reason. Took a while to set up those chocolate fingers, but once you put the first layer of cheese mix down it was okay.

What it looked like before putting into the fridge. I sprinkled the top with Chocolate Hails and Milo.

It looked stunning when taking it out the next day! Added a ribbon (recycled from old Christmas wine packaging) for finishing touches shortly after this. Even Steven was impressed, and he’s not usually a person easy to pleased.

It turned out it was a lot easier than I thought. And it was a SUCCESS! See how the cake turned out! Horatio nearly went banana when he saw the cake, couldn’t wait for daddy and grandpa to arrive!

Horatio wanted the first slice and had ordered the cake for his birthday…duh, your birthday is in April, man!

Seeing they love the cake this much, I might make another one this Christmas.
