Anyone know how to toilet train a baby?

Ever since Horatio is very little, we've heard all sorts of toilet trainning technique. Like whistle (yeah, like how you do to a doggie, but the thing is, my baby is not a doggie, the two can never be the same thing ) or just put him on the potty etc. And the ages are varied from 4 monthes to the big fat 4 years old. My mum also brag about how me and my brother were toilet trained at the tender age of 4 months (yeah, with the great help of our very stricted nanny). So when the baba reach about the same age, she was very keen to start the training and saving us bucket of nappy money.

(Dodgy that, from my observation most people don't really start the training until the babies know why do mummy and daddy had to shut their doors when they poo or pee.)

Anyway, for a while it was all good, Horatio manage to poo, sometimes pee in the potty. We were very happy, thought his 5 months old toilet training was a successful. But unfortunately, the winter came and we don't really want him to catch the cold just for learning how to wee. So the training stopped, and soon we found out he develped a phobia of sitting on the potty.

 Lovely.

Before mum went back to Taiwan this time, she gave me a whole box of little Horatio's boxer underwear, ask me to toilet train him. She said just let him wear it at home, and if he pee and hated it, tell him he will have to go to the loo and do it at the toilet so the pants won't get wet. My arse, he refuse to go there! Even refuse to let me change the pants after several times. Now he's running around the house with a wet undie and I have several puddles of pee to clean.....

God, I can't imagine what's going to happen if he poo.
